Did it work, maybe something changed, but failure could have boosted local officials and officers to take action even individual citizens sickened by constant bombardment, fanatacism and stupidity from both the US and local extremists.

How can a self professed Federalist who claims to support constructionist judges except the nomination, much less run for it?
Seek the presidency?He couldn't if he met it, since he wasn't born in a United State.  But an outer terratory.  He either resigns this or he's a liar and calls it the United States, Protectorates and Terratories.  There isn't a legal constructionist view to protect his nomination at all.
